Around 300 case files on assets and bribery charges against high-ranking administrative, police and military officials are piled up at the Bribery Commission, said attorney Shiral Laktilake, spokesman of 'Corruption Watch.'
The commission is also probing more than 30 top government politicians who are accused of amassing millions of personal wealth by improper means and misusing state property.
Among them are four ministers, two chief ministers and a deputy mayor, said Mr. Laktilake.
In all, more than 1,000 case files are piled up at the Bribery Commission, he said, and alleged an attempt to close a number of these files on alleged instances of bribery and corruption that should be referred to court.
